VBEMP.DRV is a standard Windows 9x™ Video Display Driver. It supports ALL of MS Windows 9x™ Family (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Me) It supports a wide range of videocards emulated via virtualization software: Bochs, QEMU, VMware, Innotek VirtualBox, Microsoft VirtualPC. This Bosch 12-Volt Max Impact Driver offers the precision of variable speed (0-2,600 RPM), a light body, and a short head length. As powerful as it is compact, the driver packs a punch with a high torque of 930 inch-pounds for coverage of 80% of impact driving applications. The 'features' section of the Bochs user manual says exactly what Bochs supports. However, you wouldn't need to know unless you're ready to start writing a driver for the disk controller; and if you're ready to start writing a driver for the disk controller then you must've already done code to scan PCI buses and detect which PCI devices are present, which means your own software can tell you. Bochs is an x86 PC emulator and debugger licensed under the lesser GNU Public License (GPL). The platform provides emulation of an entire PC platform, including one or more processors and various PC peripherals, such as hard disks, display, CD-ROM drives, and other common peripherals.

If the files mentioned in config.sys andautoexec.bat are not in the root directory, give the fullpathname, like c:windowshimem.sys.

9.3.2. SB16 driver for DOS

To use the SB16 device in DOS you need to load a driver for it. The file SBBASIC.EXE contains a self-extracting archive with all required file. After unpacking it to C:SB16 you can execute INSTALL.EXEto install the driver. The file DISK.ID should contain the versionstring SDR-31STD-1-US (Revision 1).

9.3.3. Bootdisks of early DOS versions

On the Web there are bootdisks available for most of the DOS versions ever released, but some of them have been reported to fail in Bochs. The bootdisk for MS-DOS 1.25contains a boot sector of a newer DOS version, so it would fail on real hardware, too. The floppy image for MS-DOS 2.11 has a boot sector that tries to boot fromhard disk instead of the floppy.
